How do I change the size of the red boxes that appear when drawing wires? Can I turn them off?

Background

When drawing wires, red boxes appear at nearby connection points. These boxes represent the capture tolerance. Wires that terminate within the limits indicated by these boxes will be connected to the connection point. The amount of tolerance and thus the size of the boxes is controlled by the Capture Tolerance setting. Changing the capture tolerance affects how precisely wires must be drawn.  This is not usually an issue when connection points and wires are "on grid".

Steps to Accomplish

To change the size of the capture tolerance boxes:

  1. With the project open or highlighted in [[Project Manager]], select [[Options]] > Project Options > Wire Settings. If using SELECTseries 5 or 6, select [[Options]] > Project Options > Wire Options.
  2. On the Connection Preferences tab, adjust the value of the "Capture tolerance" field. A value of 0 (zero) will prevent the boxes from appearing when drawing wires.
  3. Repeat for other projects as desired.
