Question

Automated Fire Flow with different Demand Scenarios (Peak Day, Peak Hour, etc)

I have set different Scenarios in WaterCAD for different Demand Patter Conditions, such as Average Day Demand, Summer Demand, Peak Day, Peak Hour, etc.:

image

I applied multipliers for these different scenarios on the Calculation Options as shown in Option 2 of this tutorial: Modeling scenarios with different demand conditions

I also set two different alternatives for Automated Fire Flow, one for 1,500 gpm and one for 2,000 gpm:

These two alternatives are run adding to the baseline demand for the Average Day Demand conditions, but I would like to run the Automated Fire Flow with all the other different Demand Conditions I set in my model.

Is the a way to do this in the same project?

Thank you.

Accepted Solution

Hello Karina,

Automated fire flow adds fire demand at specified fire flow nodes to the base demands in a steady state scenario. See this wiki for details: How does the Automated Fire Flow analysis work?

If you want to run a fire flow analysis on each of your demand alternatives (or each calculation option using demand adjustments if you are using that method), you will need to create a new scenario for each of the cases. Basically, for each of the different demands, you would need a scenario for the fire flow analysis.
