Hi,
For several of our equipment designs, I typically use a bolted head with standard flanges in accordance with ASME B16.5 or B16.47. As you know, the ASME Code allows the direct use of these flanges by complying with the pressure-temperature rating tables, so it is not mandatory to perform detailed calculations for these flange joints.
However, I haven't found a way in the software to skip or disable the specific flange calculations when using these standard flanges. Every time I run the calculation, the software automatically includes this section, and I end up having to manually modify the report—deleting the unnecessary flange calculation results and replacing them with a general note stating that the flanges are validated per ASME B16.5/B16.47.
This manual correction is time-consuming and prone to error, especially when working with multiple reports.
Is there a way to configure the software to recognize standard ASME flanges and exclude the calculation section automatically? If not, I would highly appreciate if this functionality could be considered for future updates, as it would significantly streamline our workflow and improve reporting accuracy.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Hi Brais,
When using standard flanges and flange calculations are not required, it is advisable to select the 'Standard Flanges' option rather than 'Body Flanges.' Choosing standard flanges ensures that the software will omit flange calculations.
If a body flange has been added but you prefer to exclude its calculations from the report, you can simply deselect the 'Body Flange and Cover' option under Report Content (Vessel Properties > Report). This will ensure that the flange and cover calculations are not included in the generated report.
I hope this will resolve your query.
Sincerely,
