Transfer Slab - Heavy Bottom Bars

We have a model which is a concrete slab supporting 4 levels of wood framing. We're finding that we need a heavy bottom mat (#8@12"o.c each way) to minimize any additional bars, which is significantly more that similar buildings we have worked on where #6@12" o.c is normally adequate. We have looked at the elevation of user reinforcement, concrete strength, loading, design strips etc. but have not been able to identify anything different with this model compared to others. Is this something you are able to check?
