My firm is working on our first project using ORD. We just started using the SUDA tools to develop models to develop the existing stormwater features and proposed stormwater systems. Currently we have the feature definitions to show the pipes on cross sections, but not on profiles. We have a similar situation with existing utilities. We don't have all the necessary resources defined at this time.
In the interim we will be placing cells on the profiles manually. As I was creating the cells I ran into something that is strange, in my opinion.
I had created the utility cells a while back and made them Annotation Cells. The cells are pretty basic. They are typically a circle or ellipse and a note (text with leader). The note is placed with Annotation Scale enabled. Text Height & Width are set at 0.01. The circular/elliptical element is placed at the the proper size (in the screenshot the 10" SS ellipse measures 0.83' wide and is exaggerated 5 times for a profile).
When this cell is placed in a profile with the annotation scale set at 1"=25' or 1"=50' (our typical scales for the profiles) the elliptical element remains the same size, but the text is scaled appropriately.
For our stormwater pipes we do not use a leader. We just have regular text showing the size of the pipe. When I first created the cell for this stormwater pipe I created the elliptical element to measure correctly in the cell library model, the same manner that was used for the utility cell. Upon placement of the cell in a profile the elliptical element scaled along with the text. The text height & width were correct, but the ellipse scaled up 25 times as well.
I had to go back to the cell library and scale the ellipse down. Now placing that cell in a profile with the Annotation Scale set at 1"=25' the ellipse is the correct size, but if this same cell is placed in a file with Annotation Scale set at 1"=50' the ellipse is scaled up 2 times larger than required. The text scales correctly in both drawings.
The cells reside in 2 separate libraries, but they are both created from the same seed file so all setting match. Why is it that an Annotation Cell created with a note (text with leader) does not allow the circular/elliptical elements scale with the Annotation Scale, but the Annotation Cell with plain text (no leader) cause the circular/elliptical elements to scale with Annotation Scale?
What I would like to have is the stormwater cell act the same as the utility cell so the circular/elliptical elements do not scale with Annotatin Scale, but the text does.
