Overview

To Fix Error While Loading Specs via Specification Generator

Problem Description

If we copy workspace folder at some external location and rename it with some other name than workspace for example “Workspace_Test”, than an error will pop up while loading specs in Specification Generator and specs will not be loaded.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Copy OpenPlant Modeler Workspace folder at some location other than default location say desktop and rename it to some other name say “Workspace_Test”

  2. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator

  3. Select OpenPlant Modeler node and select “Workspace” tab



  4. Select “Add Local Workspace” from “Add” dropdown button



  5. Browse for renamed workspace (Workspace_Test) and select “OK”



  6. Workspace will be added in OpenPlant Modeler node



  7. Select required project from added workspace



  8. Select Specification Generator from Tools menu



  9. Once Specification Generator get loaded, go to Tools – Preferences



  10. Catalog Directory and Spec Directory paths will not be updated



  11. Press Browse For Folder button and update Catalog and Spec paths as that of copied (Workspace_Test) Workspace and press “OK”
    (NOTE: For network drive location user can copy and paste same location path)



  12. Select “Open Specs” from Specifications Generator menu



  13. Verify that Specs Database folder path is correct in “Open Spec” dialog. Select any Spec and select “Open”



  14. Spec will be opened in Specification Generator without any issue

Problem Description - Case II

User copied Specs from Imperial and trying to Exchange specs in Specification Manager using Metric Project and getting same error,

Steps to Resolve

  1. Copy some specs say Metric specs (mEX-OPM) and place in OpenPlant Modeler Workspace Specs Database folder
    NOTE: Make sure copied specs are placed in same units. To confirm units open spec mdb file in MS Access, double click on any table in left side pane and see "MEAS_UNITS" column



  2. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator

  3. Select OpenPlant Modeler node and select “Workspace” tab



  4. Select “Add Local Workspace” from “Add” dropdown button



  5. Browse for renamed workspace (Workspace_Test) and select “OK”



  6. Workspace will be added in OpenPlant Modeler node



  7. Select required project from added workspace



  8. Select Specification Generator from Tools menu



  9. Once Specification Generator get loaded, go to Tools – Preferences



  10. Update Catalog Directory and Spec Directory paths if not be updated and press OK to dialog




  11. Go to File menu and select "Open Exchange Spec"



  12. Open copied spec (mEX-OPM.mdb)



  13. Give File name (mEx-OPNCat.mdb) in Save Catalog As dialog and Save



  14. Press OK to "Convert Spec to Catalog" confirmation dialog



  15. Press "Yes" to "Spec Update Alert" pop up message




  16. All data will be saved without any error
