AutoPLANT Install Fails with Error 1723

Problem Description

AutoPLANT installation fails with following error:

Error 1723.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action DoAutoCADShortcutsCA, entry: DoAutoCADShortcuts, library: …..

Possible Reason

Install fails, because there is no MsvcrXX.dll for Microsoft Visual C++  file in C:\Windows\System32 folder for 32 bit and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 for 64 bit Operating System.

Steps to Resolve

For SS4

Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update x86:

www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

For SS5 and SS6

Manually copy the Msvcr71.dll file to C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW64  before installing AutoPLANT. This file seems to be a part of .Net Framework 1.1, therefore you may take it from there. Or search C:\Program Files for Msvcr71.dll copy.

Another possible solution for similar installation issue is installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package 32 bit:

For SS7

Download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 x86:

Another Possible Reason

Cause of Error: RealDWG is missing from the workstation.

Notes: If you notice this error is referencing an Action named DoAutoCADShortcutsCA.  This error is caused by the file (missing) that this action is controlled by.  The readme lists Bentley View V8i as a Dependency for the AutoPLANT applications. This could be confused in an installation order.  Users should not receive this error if they have Microstation or AutoCAD installed previously as RealDWG would have been installed previously.

Solution: Install Bentley View V8i
