Release Date: December 2025
Version: RAM Concept 2025
Version Number: 25.00.00
Installation files for current and past RAM Concept releases can be downloaded from the Bentley Software Download page. After signing-in, the RAM Concept installers can be located by selecting RAM in the Brand menu and clicking Apply or searching for RAM Concept using the Product Search box.
This version of RAM Concept can also be installed through the CONNECTION Client update service or through the Structural WorkSuite Hub.
RAM Concept 2025 can be installed concurrently with previous versions of RAM Concept. Installing this version will not automatically uninstall any previous versions of the program.
RAM Concept 2025 can read all previous file formats, but it writes files in a format that cannot be read by previous versions.
RAM Concept 2025 includes the enhancements discussed below.
ACI 318/320-25
The ACI 318-25 and ACI 320-25 design codes are now implemented.
When the ACI 318/320-25 design code is selected, conventionally reinforced concrete (RC) sections are designed using ACI 318-25, and post-tensioned concrete (PT) sections are designed using ACI 320-25.
Refer to the ACI 318/320-25 Design chapter in the RAM Concept Manual for detailed implementation notes.
Service and Ultimate Snow Load Types
Snow loadings are now specified as Service Snow or Ultimate Snow loading types.
This change follows from the snow load definition change in ASCE 7-22 and applies to all implemented design codes. Snow loadings defined in existing models started in previous versions will automatically be changed to Service Snow when those files are opened in this or future versions.
Refer to the RAM Concept Manual for more information on the treatment of these snow loading types for each design code.
Code L-Beam Column Strip Width Calc Option for Design Strips
Code L-Beam is now available as a Column Strip Width Calc property selection for design span segments.
When the Code L-Beam option is selected, the column strips are generated using code-defined effective flange width limits specified for L-beams or beams with an effective flange on one side only. For example, see ACI 318-25 Table 6.3.2.1 or AS 3600-2018 8.8.2.
On-Demand Installer
The RAM Concept installation file is now packaged as an on-demand installer.
Program dependencies or components are downloaded and installed separately when an installation is initiated. An internet connection will be required to complete the installation process. If RAM Concept needs to be installed with limited or no internet access, the on-demand installer can be used to create a layout instead of running a standard installation.
New RAM Concept News Channel
The RAM Concept News Channel has been replaced with a new, Bentley-hosted news feed.
RAM Concept 2025 includes fixes for the issues discussed below.
ACI 318-19 Reinforcement Hook Development Length
When calculating the development length of reinforcement with hooked ends using the equation in ACI 318-19 25.4.3.1(a), the 1.5 exponent on the bar diameter (db) was excluded.
ACI 318-14 Confinement Factor for Reinforcement Hook Development Length
When calculating the development length of reinforcement with hooked ends, the Confinement Reinforcement factor (Yr) was always taken as 1 even when the 90 Hook (confined) or 180 Hook (confined) reinforcement end conditions were specified.
Incorrect Design Failure in Punching Shear Auditor
In models with punching shear checks defined with the Design Flexural Sections option selected, an incorrect failure may have been reported in the Punching Shear Auditor when nonprestressed flexural reinforcement was required. The design status displayed on the status plans was correct. This issue only affected ACI 318-14 and later.
Incorrect Punching Shear Analysis Results for Cutoff Sections
The Max Stress Ratio context for punching shear results may not have included the critical case for cutoff sections. Individual context results, such as Max Fz, were always correct. The design of punching shear checks was not affected.
Virtual Directories (Google Drive) and Network Files
Some virtual file directories, like Google Drive, were recognized as local file directories although they behaved like network file directories. Such directories were affected by the network file corruption issues that were addressed in v24.00.02.
Performance Issues with Wall Groups
Plans took a long time to open in models containing Wall Groups formed from a large number of wall objects.
RAM Concept 2025 also includes the changes discussed below.
Hyperstatic Axial Effect for Shear and Torsion Design
Consideration of net axial load effects for shear and torsion design is changed as follows:
ACI 318 Design – Shear Strength Calculation when User Transverse Reinforcement Shear Density is Less than Minimum Required
In previous versions, the contribution of user transverse shear reinforcement (Vs) to the nominal shear strength (Vn) was ignored when the shear density was less than the minimum density defined in ACI 318-19 9.6.3.4 (or previous version equivalent) but the spacing was less than the maximum required spacing. Now, the shear reinforcement is always considered in the calculation of Vn if the maximum spacing limit is satisfied.
User transverse reinforcement continues to be ignored in the shear capacity calculations when the reinforcement spacing exceeds the maximum spacing limits defined in ACI 318-19 9.7.6.2.2 (or previous version equivalent).
These changes affect all ACI 318 design code except ACI 318-99.
ACI 318 Punching Shear Auditor
A separate design status for the punching shear critical sections excluding flexural sections is now reported in the Punching Shear Auditor. This change only affects ACI 318-14 or later and only punching shear checks designed with flexural sections.
Clipboard SQLite
The RAM Concept clipboard now stores data as a SQLite database instead of a binary file format. This change will only affect workflows that use the clipboard contents outside of RAM Concept.
Component and Dependency Upgrades
Several internal program components are updated, including the following:
RAM Concept API version 25.00.00 can be installed and used with this version of RAM Concept. Refer to the API Documentation (Help > API Documentation) for installation instructions.
The following are now exposed through the RAM Concept API:
If you have specific requests for future API development, please post them on the RAM Concept Ideas Portal.
In accordance with the Bentley Version Support Lifecycle Policy, RAM Concept CONNECT Edition versions (v08.04.00 and prior) will move to the Retired Version phase on December 31, 2025.
