Overview:
This technote will cover how to setup the ProjectWise Explorer iPad application and show you how to work with OMIM and PMIM file extension in the iPad ProjectWise Explorer application.
PMIM – Created by ProjectWise i-model Packager. Is a file extension that allows user to create a package of i-models, PowerPoint, PDFs, spreadsheets and images for the ProjectWise Explorer iPad application.
OMIM - Created by i-model Optimizer for iPad. Is a file extension that allows the user to convert .dgn, .dwg, Revit, DXF, Rhino (3DM), and 3DS files into an i-model optimized file for the iPad. This file can be placed in the ProjectWise Explorer iPad application to be viewed in Bentley Navigator for iPad application.
iPad ProjectWise Explorer Tips:
- To disable/enable a datasource connection please click on the chevron icon
and either turn on or off. - To refresh the left pane to show a new datasource that has been added, folder or file. Simply swipe down until you see ‘Release to refresh’ will update the view.
- To delete a datasource, folder or file a swipe to the left will enable a delete button and swipe to the right will remove the delete button.
- Once a file is opened in ProjectWise Explorer for the iPad such as a jpeg, pdf, etc. It will stay open in the back ground until a different file open is initiated.
Setup:
Let's get started with iPad client configuration:
- Please install ProjectWise Explorer and Bentley Navigator via iTunes.Once installed you will see the PWExplorer Icon on your home screen. (SC1)

ProjectWise Explorer Configuration on iPad:
- Please double tap and launch ProjectWise Explorer (SC2)

- Once ProjectWise Launches, click on the Datasource Button on the top left of the screen, then the + button in the ProjectWise Datasources drop down window. (SC3)

- In the 'New ProjectWise Datasource' window Under the ProjectWise ProjectWise web services field type in your ProjectWise web servicess FQDN ie. tsgmobile.bentley.com/pwmobileaccess. (SC4) On the top right hit Next.

- Any datasource that is registered under the Mobile Server with the FQDN will show in the 'Select datasource' list. Select the datasource you wish to login to ie. TSGMobile (SC5)

- After selecting the datasource enter the Username and Password and once the information is verified you will see check marks on the right has side (SC6 )

- Once the datasource is ready to be logged in it will appear in the Datasources list (SC7)

Workflow:
- Click on the datasource and it will navigate you to your folder tree in ProjectWise.
- Notice there are two different extension OMIM and PMIM These files types are used with iPad ProjectWise Client and iPad Bentley Navigator Applications. You can navigate to these two technotes to see how to create a PMIM and a OMIM file. (SC8)

- When you click on a .jpg, .pdf, office file extensions, etc… on the iPad it opens in a application that its mime type on the iPad is associated to.For OMIM file and PMIM there are specific workflows. For a OMIM file once it is created via MicroStation, and uploaded in to ProjectWise. You will need to click on the file and view the document via Bentley Navigator.(SC9)

- Once it opens in Navigator you can view the Points of Interest by Clicking the Maps button and clicking one of the maps (ie 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, etc..) (SC10) then selecting one of the Points of Interest (SC11)

PMIM Workflow:
- When working with PMIM files when you click the file you will need to click on the Copy to Local button and place it to the local folder on your iPad, (SC12) then click add here (notice the Local folder is highlighted) (SC13)

- Once the file is in the local folder (SC14) you can click on the file and it will expand in to the PMIM file and show all content that has been packaged (SC15) Clicking on any of the files will open the application that is associated to the file type. Opening the OMIM file will be the same workflow as above.
